SPECIFICATIONS AND COMPLIANCE TECHNOLOGIST  - 12 month FTC

 

This hugely respected food manufacturer is looking for an experienced Specifications Technologist to be an integral member of their technical team for a 12 month fixed term contract. You’ll write and maintain specifications for products supplied and produced by and on behalf of the business.   

 

Working hours: Typically 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. There will be some flexibility by agreement including working from home.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure all necessary and accurate legislative information is incorporated into the specifications, ensure compliance to customer policies for own label products and internal polices for branded products.
  • Create in house specifications and be able to write specifications on Customer portals as required ensuring all data is correct and accurate.
  • Check and approve artworks and final print samples.
  • Produce and maintain factory paperwork prior to NPD / EPD launches.
  • Process, check and prepare RM specifications for TM / TSM to approve.
  • Conduct raw materials risk assessments and maintain Raw Material Directory.
  • Build supplier relationships and maintain up to date specifications on the system.
  • Be the point of contact between the company and the company's customer/supply base where and when required.
  • Maintain a fair and professional work environment that focuses on the business objectives.
  • Support administration and reporting relating to microbiological reporting and customer complaint investigations.
  • Be part of the site internal and external audits and support with relevant documentation.
  • Attend and participate in all appropriate meetings.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Technical Services Manager.

 

 

 

 

 

PREFERABLE EXPERIENCE / SKILLS: 

 

  • ●Bachelor Degree of Science preferably in Food Science or related field (Meat Science, Biology, Microbiology, Food Microbiology, etc.).
  • ●At least 2 years of work experience as Specifications Technologist / Compliance Technologist.
  • ●A good knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices and Food Safety.
  • ●Good understanding of quality testing within the food and beverage industry to include analytical, microbiological and sensory evaluation.
  • ●Must possess a basic understanding of chemical and microbiological analysis and good maths knowledge.
  • ●Ability to work under pressure (in an extremely fast paced environment). Ability to manage multiple tasks/projects whilst delivering results against tight deadlines.
  • ●A working computer knowledge (Microsoft Office applications) and computer-based applications).
  • ●Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change.
  • ●Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • ●Skill in organisation and prioritisation, and attention to details.
  • ●Be a strong team player.
  • ●Have a strong attention to detail and be able to write specifications and factory documentation without errors.
  • ●Be an effective communicator and be able to work with cross functional departments.
  • ●Must be able to effectively communicate ideas (verbally and in writing).
  • ●FSA Allergen awareness & Specifications training.
  • ●Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • ●Ability to work without supervision and on own initiative, self-motivated/driven.
  • ●It is key you are analytical, detailed and diligent individual that strives to meet customer requirements on time and succeed all expectations.
  • ●HACCP qualifications / knowledge.
