Technical Manager

Job Description

My client are a leading importer of ambient food products that are then supplied to manufacturers and retailers. The requirement for a Technical Manager has now become available to join their ever growing business.


Main Purposes

  • Lead the technical and quality function for the business.

  • Manage all Quality Systems for the company.

  • Manage the Quality Assurance audit (internal and external) function.

  • Ensure the company maintains the standards required by BRC, all customers and relevant food Legislation.


Main Responsibilities & Duties

  • Ensure that the Technical structure meets business needs.

  • Ensure systems are in-place to meet ISO accreditation bodies, customer, and legal requirements.

  • Ensure finished product specifications are available for all products.  All specifications must be signed, agreed, maintained and reviewed to an appropriate frequency.

  • Manage appropriate KPI’s together with suitable targets that promote continuous improvement.  Ensure they are reviewed regularly and implement corrective action to address adverse trends or to maintain levels, with a focus on continuous improvement.

  • Manage the handling of customer complaints and ensure corrective action is taken whenever required.

  • Host customer, EHO, TSO and 3rd party audit visits as required.

  • To be the main Technical contact for the business

  • Own HACCP and QMS ensuring appropriate review mechanism and suitable document control.

  • Manage document control for the site, and record keeping in line with due diligence requirements.

  • Manage the internal auditing program, challenging as necessary to improve standards.

  • Ensure QA sampling schedules are in place and met to maintain the company’s due diligence.

  • Operate a regular quality review to set improvement targets and communicate initiatives.

  • Carry out assessment of suppliers on a risk assessed basis.
