Project Manager | Auckland, Wellington, Queenstown

  • Long established and well-respected Contractor is actively seeking UK Project Managers with experience in Streetscapes, Rail, and Land Development

Our Client:

Working for a market leading infrastructure and civil construction company that have been making their mark in Aotearoa, New Zealand since 1968. The brand has been behind some of New Zealand’s most high-profile streetscape, engineering, and civils projects.

They pride themselves on their strong family culture based on being true to their word and consistently delivering. They are fully self-resourced in labour and equipment and are one of the few contractors with experience and ability to successfully execute complex streetscape projects in high density urban environments.

Our client is experiencing some major growth and development by moving into the Rail and Land Development areas, as well as establishing branches beyond Auckland.

 

The Role:

  • Direct and manage project development from beginning to end.
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communication documents.
  • Planning (Methodology, project specific roles and responsibilities etc).
  • Compilation and completion of Contract Quality Plan.
  • Monitoring allowables versus hours.
  • Subcontract and Material Procurement (including preparing procurement schedule).
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals..
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
  • Conduct project post reviews and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Represents the contractor in a professional manner.
  • Liaison with local authority agents and other third parties as required.
  • Resolves any issues with Client.
  • Where required, negotiate with other department managers for the acquisition of required personnel from within the company.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Ensure staff place an emphasis on continuous learning and licences/tickets remain current.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project and future work opportunities.
  • Complete regular staff performance reviews with all staff.
  • Manage Notice to Engineer (NTE’s) communication.

Has at least 5 years Project Management experience within Civils / Construction

Has a degree or HNC in Civil Engineering (or related)

  • Experience in civil engineering work including relevant plant operation
  • Good Working Knowledge of Occupational, Safety, and Health Act
  • Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Good oral and written literacy and numeric skills
  • Excellent communication skills to deal with general public, other staff and supervisors.
  • Must be physically fit.
