Role Overview:

As a Project Manager in the civil construction sector, you will be responsible for leading the bidding and delivery of specific projects and contracts. Reporting to the Branch Manager and other senior project managers, you will oversee project engineers, foremen, supervisors, and labour resources. Your role will involve building long-term client relationships, ensuring competitive pricing, and managing project delivery to meet financial, health and safety, and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Winning Business and Bid Delivery:
- Identify and secure work within existing and new client bases.
- Develop innovative solutions and maintain strong client relationships.
- Ensure accurate pricing and compliance with tender requirements.

Project Delivery and Management:
- Manage client and contractor relationships to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Oversee subcontractors and resources, ensuring adherence to project plans.
- Handle project administration, including RFIs, variations, and invoicing.
- Drive project profitability and ensure margin adherence.

Leadership and Team Management:
- Foster a cooperative team environment and communicate effectively.
- Mentor and develop team members, addressing employment issues promptly.
- Share and manage resources across projects and branches.

Health & Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and report hazardous situations.
- Perform tasks only for which training has been provided or supervision is available.

Qualifications and Experience:

Essential:
- Engineering Diploma or Degree.
- First Aid Qualification.

Desirable:
- Project Management Qualifications or Certifications.

Skills and Experience:
- Solid background in civil engineering.
- Knowledge of aggregates and asphalt materials.
- Strong people management skills and understanding of health and safety in the civil engineering industry.
- Proficiency with MS Project and construction estimating software like CANDY.
- Understanding of the Construction Contracts Act and NZS 3910.
