Production Manager

Job Description

This producer of high quality ready meals products to the major retailers is recruiting for a Production Manager to join their current operations team, based in North Yorkshire.   

Initially this role will be a Monday to Friday role working 8am – 5pm with 1 hour unpaid break. At a later date this role may become 4 on 4 off and any applicants will need to take account of this.

Your role will be to ensure the Operations teams deliver seamless production output. You will meet the highest levels of customer expectations within budget and other parameters documented within company policy as well all legal parameters.

You will be expected to challenge current factory processes, suggest improvements and work with internal teams to deliver effective change which delivers operational improvement.

  • Minimum 3 years senior management experience in a food manufacturing environment ideally Ready meals

  • A comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of food manufacturing, processing, and distribution with an analytical and proactive approach to business issues.

  • Retort manufacturing experience / Chilled short life meals experience

  • Proven leadership, communication, negotiation, motivation and team building qualities

  • IOSH  

  • HACCP

  • Food Safety Certificate

  • Presentation skills

  • Budgetary experience

  • Waste management / cost reduction

Working to Champion Health and Safety, passing on all relevant information with respect to preventative and protective measures to the appropriate members of the team.

To be responsible for ensuring the company commitments on training and development are met within all the factory operations by ensuring that all workers within your area of responsibility are fully trained on the machinery or task they are working on and to develop  all employees to reach the highest level of competency. 

Carrying out people management processes such as performance management, absence management and discipline and grievance.  

To co-ordinate the efficient and economic operation of production, ensuring the quality of our products meets the high specifications that our Client sets out in agreement with all their major customers.

In liaison with the Operations senior management, ensure full control of all aspects of the budgeted requirements for the site. Incorporating Management structures, staffing levels, and all maintenance and operational costs.

Deliver process improvement techniques such as Lean, Six Sigma and Seven Wastes in order to improve and sustain processes.

Experienced in change management, evaluating, implementing and driving forward business improvements.

Ensure that all KPI’s are achieved through affective use of resources, and management of staff.  Maintaining accurate records and planning of holidays for shifts to ensure targets are achieved within financial costings.

Manage the Production teams to deliver best in class standards for all areas of responsibility

Target setting and monitoring performance to ensure effective and timely implementation of any changes to standards and that they are clearly communicated and understood by all relevant departments.

You should be able to work as part of a team and having a “can do” attitude is vital, you must be able to work confidently without constant or direct supervision. You must also be able to work alongside other departments within the business.

You must have Knowledge of a Food Manufacturing environment, health and safety awareness and food hygiene and apply these principles.
