Head of Finance

Job Description

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading supplier of fresh produce based in Kent as Head of Finance.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Statutory Accounts and Audit – Preparation of statutory accounts and management of the annual audit.
  • Department Management-Responsible for staff and procedures within the accounts department
  • Business plans and strategy – Assist the Board in developing the companies futures plans and strategies
  • Management Accounts – Preparation of weekly and monthly management accounts. Including month end journals, accruals and prepayments.
  • Payroll -Overview of all payroll processes and adherence to relevant legislation. Processing of Manager and Director Payroll on payroll system. Payroll associated admin EG P60’s P45s.Ad hoc payroll reporting. All associated journals.
  • Company Liquidity – Managing company cash flow, bank balances and foreign exchange transactions
  • Statutory Returns – Submission of VAT return. ONS submissions, HMRC submissions
  • Insurance – Negotiation and administration of company insurance polices
  • Pensions – Management of company pension schemes. Ensuring relevant legislation is adhered to.
  • Stakeholder Management – Maintain relationships with external stakeholders; Auditors, Bank, Brokers, Service providers Accountants. Suppliers, Customers, HMRC, Companies House and Office of National Statistics
  • HR - Management of company personnel records. Assist management with HR processes and procedures.
  • IT – Management of IT infrastructure and software. Including liaising with external support providers
  • Process - Drive continuous improvement in the company’s administration processes and procedures. Improving efficiencies and driving down costs
  • General Duties -.Providing general financial advice to the MD, Shareholder and Managers.
  • Ad Hoc Duties- Ad hoc reporting on any of the above and any other duties as required by Managing Director and shareholders.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

  

Skills / Qualifications

  • IT skills – Microsoft Office, ERP
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail –to ensure all tasks are preformed accurately
  • Problem-solving skills – to enable query resolution troubleshooting skills are important to success in this position
  • Time Management and ability to prioritize - Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Continuous Improvement – The willingness to constantly look for a better way
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion.
