Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Commercial Manager to join the London Engineering division of a National M&E Contractor.

The role of Senior Commercial Manager will maximise the financial effectiveness and profitability of large projects or business areas through diligent application of agreed contractual and commercial practices and with the careful management of risk from tender stage through to final completion.

The Senior Commercial Manager is responsible for advising senior management on the commercial risk elements of contracts from tender to completion. Constant awareness of business costs and responsible for consolidating and submitting monthly management accounts, preparing Business Plan updates and contributing to financial reviews. Management of local commercial operations and team.

Provide the appropriate Health and Safety leadership to ensure that the safety first and foremost message is visible and alive throughout all activities relating to the activities under their leadership

To provide support to all business development/focus win activities in line with the Company’s procedures, evaluating risks and opportunities at the front end, and providing commercial input to highlight risk

Ensure that commercial delegated authorities are complied with and records maintained

Formulate, in conjunction with the project team, a commercial plan specifically identifying the activities necessary to protect the company and enhance the profitability of contracts. Be responsible for the commercial performance of the projects and the project commercial staff in order that they may successfully achieve company, division, team and individual objectives

Ensure that contract costs are monitored, controlled and reviewed against agreed budgets, and that cost information is accurately reported regularly in a clear and concise format.

Provide leadership for the commercial team in line with company standards and values working to maximise the potential of the team and the individuals within them

To complete all monthly reviews in line with the business procedures to ensure that the Operations Director/Manager or Project Director/Manager has full knowledge of the completion and financial status of the project

To be responsible for implementation of commercial risk management and review procedures, and contract negotiations. To work in line with the delegated authorities to continue to minimise risks across the business area

Liaise with the contract team, and be actively involved in the management of the ongoing financial aspects and the securing of all subcontracts, ensuring that subcontract terms and conditions reflect obligations undertaken by NGB

Essential criteria                             

Proven Commercial experience within M&E engineering / Building Services

Excellent leadership qualities, driving forward and developing a commercial fuction

Strong knowledge of commercial contract terms within M&E industry including NEC3
