Job Description

Position Purpose:

To support the region in attaining its business objectives and achieving excellence in key result areas, through the sustainable growth of profitable business, in accordance with Company vision, policy and strategy, while ensuring the safe, profitable, compliant and efficient delivery of the works. In order to achieve this you will provide assistance and support to Managers, Supervisors and Engineers as well as assisting with the production of Management and Corporate Reports.

Detailed Description

The Estimator / Cost Controller is responsible for providing professional, timely, efficient and effective cost control support to the contracting business whilst ensuring deadlines, Group Policy and legal requirements are consistently met. You will also be required to assist and prepare the estimating of all quotable jobs, communicating with the client and to get site information for quotation purposes. You will also be responsible for submitting the quotations, pre-claiming of domestic and non-domestic jobs and monthly accruals.

Key tasks of the role include the following:

  • Weekly and monthly reports in line with the project and company reporting calendar

  • Providing details on progress, actuals, forecast and explanation of variances

  • Ensure that project controls processes are consistently applied across the project

  • Manage governance to ensure robust cost and schedule performance for the agreed Scope of Work

  • Support and advise on Cost/Controls and Value add procedures and the standards required to deliver projects

  • Work closely with the Project Manager, commercial manager to maximise the potential of the project

  • Challenge Project Manager and Engineers on allowables and costs

  • Project cost forecasting

  • Responsible to control and monitor project total expenditure including verifying and checking of invoices and claims from suppliers, vendors and subcontractors to ensure that all project expenditures are captured and properly recorded

  • Provide planning and cost controlling which includes variation reporting, monitoring of milestone progress to the preparation of customer billing processes

  • Perform and manage project activity scheduling and monitoring

  • Coordinate and work with the project management team to resolve project issues to ensure the delivery/completion of the project work

  • Maintain written procedures / checklists for all aspects of the position

  • Special projects and assignments as directed by management

  • Adhere to Group Policies
